Nexus 6P and the Google Store Review

Nexus 6P Open Box

I want to openly congratulate Google and Huawei for the Nexus 6P. A great looking phone, perfect size and design, great performance, no bloatware... pure Android. I am really enjoying it. It goes head to head with the Apple 6s Plus at a considerable lower price. There is also something to be said about the Google Store experience. I need to openly claim I had one of the best customer service experiences in a long time, period. So I have to take a moment to thank the Google Store's Service department for their astute handling of my Nexus 6P order. More about that below.

The Nexus line is a real opportunity to showcase cutting edge phones with beautiful design that creates a benchmark for the industry in general. The Nexus 6P is a great step in that direction. It has to be noted that Apple has really stepped-up to the plate to produce a mobile phone that lives up to their hype: the iPhone 6s. At least in build, screen resolution, and mechanical functionality the phone looks fantastic. Way to go Apple! However it still lags behind Android which is by far a superior operating system especially when it comes to flexibility, interoperability, openness, innovation and collaboration. This brings us back to the Nexus 6P and why it is important. It is important because it really showcases the Nexus brand and the Android operating system. Focusing on price only, the Nexus 6P - Aluminum, 64GB is $549 vs. the iPhone 6s Plus is $849 which is a difference of $300. That is very significant on its own.

Now about my customer service experience and a little about the Nexus 5X. After owning the Nexus 5, the Nexus 5X was a disappointment. It really was not much different and lacked the processing speed and screen resolution/size that I was looking for. I really gave it a chance but when all was said and done I was not satisfied. So I called customer service at the Google Store and here is what happened. In less than 5 minutes they issued my return and sent me my labels and packing slip. This was around 11:30 AM. At about 12:15 I placed an order online for the Nexus 6P. I got the 32MB in aluminum for $499 plus tax. Beautiful phone and available at that instant. Well to make a long story short, the next day at 11:15 AM, not even 24 hours later, FedEx hand delivered my new Nexus 6P. Astonishing!

After only a few days, I can confirm I am extremely happy with this phone. I love my Nexus 6P and I highly recommend it.
